I don't. But I just have to say.. what is wrong with L.A? Here is NY pulling off their anuual HUGE gatherings and parties in Times Square, and we can't even get this off and going. Sigh. I've lived in L.A all my life (so no, I'm not a newbie just coming here to complain. ;) )and I more and more envy the heart and spirit that is NY.

So, why was this event cancelled?

You might want to check your 'rained out' idea. They updated their website today www.giantvillage.com about how umbrellas were going to be available to rent/purchase as well as smokes @ the coat check.

They've been doing this 6 yrs straight rain/shine. Half of it is indoors anyways, or heated tents...no 'outdoor' stages to my knowledge.

Bar Sinister has a nice evening planned. I won't be attending, although I've got two tickets. Dammit all to hell.

Price of gen adm?

According to the home page, this is what I found under A to Z information.

Rain or shine, this event is happening, A coat check is located in the middle of the event… bring your umbrellas if you like & we`ll hand on to them for you. Look for daily weather updates on the home page. There are 3 indoor areas and heaters throughout the event.

Though I`m dreaming of going, I don`t know if I should? My dogs are tired from walking all day, riding the metro, all over town and I just got comfy in a set of warm dry clothes. I had a bowl of posóle, and am planning to watch everything go down from my TV, in front of a blazing fire.

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

GIANT VILLAGE 2006 POSTPONED

GIANT VILLAGE 2006 regrets to inform our patrons that to protect the public and the performers, the event will not take place tonight. Information will be released shortly about a make-up event where tickets for GIANT VILLAGE 2006 will be honored.

At 4:30 p.m. today during meetings between event producers GIANT Los Angeles Inc. and officials of the City of Los Angeles, we were advised that the extreme weather conditions caused serious concern for public safety. Namely, city officials advised Giant that if the event were to proceed, numerous factors threatening public safety likely would result in the termination of the event sending away the full capacity crowd. Therefore, based on these discussions and the city’s recommendations, we determined to accede to the city’s direction to postpone the event at this time.

GIANT VILLAGE 2006 sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this situation has caused our patrons and participating artists. We wish you all a very happy and safe New Year.

What the hell are these "extreme weather conditions" everyone is talking about? It rained for a little while yesterday and that's IT!

L.A. is dilusional, seriously.

Refunds for PreSales

If you bought tickets from a third-party reseller (like groovetickets) you can email them requesting a refund. tell them that if they don't refund your money in a timely manner, you will contact your credit card company and request a chargeback. the credit card companies are on your side. if you bought with cash, hopefully you have your receipt somewhere and can go with tickets in hand to request a refund.

good luck all!
